Gary F. Geisler

Gary Geisler is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois since 1977. He has been engaged in a general trial practice and has participated in over 120 jury trials, ranging from medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, occupational injuries and motor vehicle collisions.

Mr. Geisler has served as counsel for plaintiffs in a number of personal injury and wrongful death cases in Macon County, Illinois, and throughout central Illinois. He has received a number of substantial verdicts and settlements on behalf of clients, including cases where the recovery was in excess of one million dollars.

Mr. Geisler is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He was first certified in 1987 and has continued to be certified since that time. The National Board of Trial Advocacy is a nationally recognized organization which reviews, studies, tests and certifies trial lawyers throughout the United States to determine the level of expertise of trial advocates. The applicants must submit a detailed record of their civil trial experience. Opposing attorneys and judges before whom applicants have appeared are contacted and questioned about the applicant. The applicant also undergoes a day-long test to determine his knowledge about the legal, substantive and procedural aspects of civil trial proactive. Mr. Geisler is the only current attorney in Decatur, Illinois, certified as a Civil Trial Advocate.

Mr. Geisler is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, Illinois Bar Association and Decatur Bar Association. He previously served on the Illinois Trial Lawyers Board of Advocates. He has had articles published in the Illinois Bar Journal on issues of trial advocacy and evidence. He has appeared as a speaker at seminars held by the Illinois Trial Layers Association to discuss issues of trial advocacy and evidence. In 2006, Mr. Geisler was recognized by the Leading Lawyers Network as a top lawyer in the field of personal injury law.

Mr. Geisler has achieved successful recoveries on complicated motor vehicle collision cases which required expert testimony from professional engineers to reconstruct the accident. He is recognized by some of the highest regarded professional engineer/reconstruction experts in the State of Illinois. He has been able to establish the liability in various cases of a trucking firm for created an unstable load and thereby effecting the stop capacity of the truck, the liability of a township for the negligent operation of a road construction vehicle, the liability of a township for the negligent placement of road signs, the liability of a tire manufacturer for a defective automobile tire, and the liability of a city for the defective design of a bridge (the Garfield viaduct) which led to the death of a woman.

Mr. Geisler has spoken before fellow attorneys on the subjects of Uninsured Motorist and Underinsured Motorist cases. His research and knowledge of the law has led to several recoveries on behalf of the clients in cases where the other driver was not covered by insurance or where the other driver's insurance was inadequate.

Mr. Geisler has worked on cases involving difficult damage issues including the use of economists, actuaries, rehabilitative experts and life-planning experts. He recognizes that each case has its own uniqueness and he brings an open-minded approach to cases by weaving his vast experience from previous cases together with a willingness to consider alternate and cutting-edge ways to establish economic loss and obtain the maximum recovery on each issue.
